It seems that I have been preparing my entire life for this moment. I now understand my purpose in life given my failures, successes and achievements. I now understand my insatiable need to lend a helping hand and work until I drop. Every aspect of my life has positioned me to serve as President of the Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotary Club. I now know that I was born and bred to be a Rotarian.

Rotary is about service above self. It is about receiving joy from helping others. Its about using your gifts from God, your money, time, talents, and skills to help mankind. Its that simple.

RI President Banerjee has suggested that we live according to three guiding principles, namely the family, continuity, and change, as we work to support the 2011-12 theme, Reach Within to Embrace Humanity. To truly understand others, we need to take note that they too are pursuing the same dreams, hopes, aspirations as well as face the same disappointments, and injustices we experience. Only then can we realize the importance of our work.

I have taken the excellent and outstanding aspects that I have observed in you, my fellow members and added a few personal agenda items to create a year full of community service, love, fellowship, family and fun. I pledge to put my boundless energy to work for the club and the District. I pledge to raise monies for our activities so we can continue to change lives. I pledge to serve you with respect and dignity. You, your families and the Rotary work are precious to Shelly and I, and we are grateful for this opportunity to serve.
